Instructions
The Organizing Committee invites all those registered for the I International Congress on Humanization of Pediatric Pain Care of the Higher education as a driver in the HUmanisation of PEDiatric pain CARE (HUPEDCARE) project, II Brazilian Congress on Childhood Pain and Pediatric Palliative Care and II Symposium on Technologies in Child Health to participate in the event by submitting their abstracts for analysis and presentation in poster format. Each registrant in the in-person category will be entitled to 1 abstract submission.
The Brazilian Network of Pediatric Palliative Care is proud to fulfill its role of disseminating knowledge and science, as well as sharing accounts from professionals dedicated to the development of Pediatric Palliative Care in the country.
Rules for Abstract Submission
- The Author Responsible for submitting the abstract must be registered for the event before submission.
- Abstracts must be submitted in the manner described in the `Rules for Abstract Preparation` section.
- Each Author Responsible may submit only 1 (one) abstract.
- The Author Responsible for submitting a paper may be a Co-author of other papers submitted by other authors, but may only be responsible for submitting one paper.
- The limit of authors per paper is 6 (six) authors, including the Author Responsible and Co-authors.
- It is mandatory that at least half of the authors are duly registered and present at the event.
- The deadline for abstract submission is 11:59 PM (Brasilia time) on 03/13/2026.
- The evaluation of the papers will be carried out by an Evaluation Committee constituted exclusively for the analysis of the papers of this event. The decision of the Evaluation Committee is final, and no appeals or requests for reconsideration are admissible.
- The evaluation process is confidential; therefore, the reasons for acceptance or rejection of the papers will not be made public, and the evaluators are prohibited from commenting on the submitted papers outside the evaluation committee.
- Abstracts will be submitted by the responsible author through the conference website.
- Submitting an abstract represents a commitment by the author(s) to present the paper, if accepted, during the event.
- The results will be published in the responsible author`s Personal Area on the event website before May 4, 2026.
- Approved papers will be registered and published in Electronic Proceedings format and made available to the public.
- All materials produced (proceedings, certificates, among others) based on the submitted abstracts will be a faithful reproduction of the information submitted by the Responsible Author during the submission process. Abstracts. Therefore, it will not be possible to make any changes to the spelling of the title, abstract, or author names after the abstract has been submitted. The information provided is the sole responsibility of the Author Responsible for submitting the work.
- By submitting abstracts, authors assume responsibility for complying with all applicable legislation and respecting the ethical standards governing research with humans and animals, including any approval by the Research Ethics Committees with Human Beings and Clinical Ethics Committees in Animal Research. The opinions may be requested at any time by the Evaluation Committee.
- All communications regarding the work will be made via the responsible author`s email.
- Approved works must be presented by the Responsible Author in printed poster format on the dates designated by the Organizing Committee during the event, and according to the rules in the `Rules for poster presentation` section.
Rules for preparing abstracts
- The title should be concise and reflect the study to be presented, with a limit of 150 characters, including spaces.
- The abstract text should not exceed 1500 characters, including spaces (not counting title, authors, institutions, bibliography and keywords).
- The author must choose one of the categories listed in the `Categories of works` section to submit their abstract. If the abstract fits into more than one category, the Responsible Author must choose the theme that appears predominantly in the work.
- The abstract should be typed in a single body of text, following the sequences below, depending on the structure involved:
- Research and reviews: Introduction, Objective, Methodology, Results and Conclusion.
- Experience report and case report: Case/Service Presentation, Discussion and Final Comments.
- Abstracts cannot contain visual resources such as tables or graphs. These resources may be used in posters, if the work is approved.
- The use of brand names of medications is not permitted; generic drug names must be used.
- The Word document of the abstract must follow the "EXAMPLE WORD DOCUMENT TEMPLATE TO BE SENT BY EMAIL" at the end of this document. It must be prepared in A4 format, Times New Roman font, size 12, with 2.5 margins on all 4 sides, single spacing.
- Papers may be written in Portuguese, Spanish, or English.
Poster Presentation Rules
- Posters must contain: work code (sent along with the abstract approval), title, authors, authors` affiliations, the content of the work, and bibliography.
- Posters must measure 297 x 420 mm (A3) and be displayed in a location defined by the Organizing Committee.
- The posters must measure 90 x 120 cm and include mounting hardware for banner stands, which will be displayed in a location determined by the Organizing Committee.
- The poster must be written in Portuguese, English, or Spanish.
- The Responsible Author is responsible for all costs related to the preparation and printing of the posters.
- The presentation will take place at a location and time designated by the Organizing Committee, during the days of the event. Authors will be notified by email about the date, location, and time of their presentation.
- Authors must arrive at least 30 minutes before the presentation time to hand in their materials and secure them in the appropriate location.
Evaluation of the works
- The posters will be evaluated by an Evaluation Committee according to the items described below: General presentation; Scientific methodology; Originality; Summarizing ability; Writing (grammar).
- For each item, a grade from 0 to 2 will be assigned by each member of the Evaluation Committee independently. The value of the grade assigned to each item will be added together, with the final grade from the evaluator being the sum of all items.
- The candidate`s final grade will be the arithmetic mean of the final grades from the evaluators.
- In case of a tie, the tie-breaking criteria will follow this order:
- Highest average grade for item 1 among all evaluators.
- Highest average grade for item 2 among all evaluators.
- Highest average grade for item 3 among all evaluators.
- Highest average grade for item 4 among all evaluators.
- Highest average grade for item 5 among all evaluators.
- If the tie persists, the earlier submission date will be used as the tie-breaker.
Certificates
- The certificate may be issued in PDF format or printed.
- To receive the certificate, the responsible author (who submitted the work) must have participated in the event and presented their poster.
- Only 1 certificate will be issued per work, and it will be sent to the main author, who will be responsible for distributing it among the other authors of the abstract.
Awards
- The best poster in each of the 5 categories will be awarded.
- The winners of each category will be announced on May 23, 2026, that is, on the last day of the congress.
- An `Honorable Mention` award will be given to the three best works in each of the 5 categories (from I to V).
- The `Honorable Mention` certificate may be in PDF or printed format.
